Mr. John Pinder was born in Nassau. His early education started at Sandilands Primary School and L. W. Young Junior. He graduated from R.M. Bailey Senior High School in 1979.

Mr. Pinder was employed by the Bahamas Government in 1981 where he took up the position of Audit Clerk in the Audit Department. He moved through the ranks to Accountant & Audit Officer and as Supervisor for the Revenue and Expenditure Section.

Mr. Pinder became interested in the Labour Movement in 1982, when he joined the Union as a member and elected shop steward a position he held for ten years. He also served as internal auditor for the Union from 1996 to 1999. In 1999 he ran for the position of treasurer and was elected. However, Mr. Pinder was not satisfied with the direction the Union was headed, so in September 2002 he ran for the postion of President and was successful.

Mr. Pinder holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and is presently pursuing his Masters Degree in Business Administration with the McHari Institute.

Mr. Pinder now serves as the 1st Vice President of the National Congress of Trade Unions (NCTU).

Mr. Pinder is married and the father of three beautiful children.
