His
struggle for the promotion of working class Bahamians
have led to a number of socioeconomic and financial conference,
explorations and programmes through North American, Europe,
South Africa and the Caribbean. Indeed he has acquired
a wealth of knowledge on human rights and resolutions,
and emerging global Labour and economic trends and issues.
He has always been a human rights activist, a quality
recognized by past President, Davis Knowles, who recruited
him from ZNS Radio in Freeport. He has worked tirelessly
with the Lions Club of Freeport and with the Grand Bahama
Council for the Disabled for many years; and is currently
a member of the Kiwanis Club here in Nassau. He is an
environmentalist and speaks candidly on matters related
to the preservation of our natural habitat. His enthusiasm
for life has communicated to directorship in BASH and
Brand New Hope; A programme for the proliferation of
computer technology throughout the high schools in this
region.
In addition to serving as the
President of the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers
Union, Mr. Bain also serves as Chairman of National
Workers Co-Operative Union, President of the National
Congress of Trade Unions, Trustee of the Bahamas Hotel & Allied
Industries Pension Fund, Director of the Bahamas Hotel
Training College, and Director of the Bank of the Bahamas.
